Jordan Acevedo admits there were several times in the beginning of his Brafton career when he questioned if a sales path was going to work out for him.
Brafton’s lead gen department is responsible for opening conversations with marketers in industries where our clients have seen success. For employees, it’s the gateway to a business executive role, and for Jordan, was the perfect opportunity to break into a career in sales and marketing.
“To be honest, I didn’t do that well starting out,” he said. “It took me a while to find my flow … so to have found it in myself to fight to get my numbers up was an achievement that I am pretty proud of. My advice to new lead gen people is: Don’t give up!”
Now, a year into his tenure, a Rep. of the Quarter award under his belt, and a big promotion to our senior lead gen program, Jordan said the progression from slow-start to all-star feels like a blur.
“My favorite aspect of my role, and sales in general, is the psychology behind what we do,” he said. “In my role, I need to create relationships with people in sometimes 2-5 minutes; deciding how to approach different personalities on the spot is pretty challenging but also a lot of fun.”
Jordan’s Brafton Q&A:
Q: What do you value most in a job?
I value a solid career path, a positive environment and fun coworkers.
Q: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A lot of different things. I was a pretty serious soccer player so that was definitely a goal at one point. I also have always wanted to be a newscaster or host for a TV show. That said, my eyes have always been on business and marketing.
„I still have so much to learn but I definitely owe a lot to the tips and advice I’ve received – not only from the sales team. I also feel like you aren’t going to be successful if you don’t truly back what your company does. I really do respect and am interested in our product and content marketing in general.“
Q: What is your most treasured possession?
The internet. It provides so much value and none of us would be working here if it didn’t exist.
Q: Which day of the work week are you the most productive?
It sounds weird to say, but Monday, actually. After the weekend I always feel refreshed and motivated to get back to work.
Q: What would you recommend for success as a Brafton lead gen rep?
I still have so much to learn but I definitely owe a lot to the tips and advice I’ve received – not only from the sales team. All the departments at Brafton are so approachable and excited to help. I also feel like you aren’t going to be successful if you don’t truly back what your company does. I really do respect and am interested in our product and content marketing in general.
Q: Tell us some of your favorite aspects of lead generation.
I value the camaraderie and how supportive my colleagues are. In my last job I worked as a billing assistant at a nursing home. It was a breath of fresh air to come to an environment that was a little more, for a lack of a better word… alive. Oh, and trade shows are definitely fun to go to!
Q: Have any „hidden talents“?
I guess this isn’t hidden to some, but I actually am a decent hip hop dancer. I taught classes weekly in college, have performed with crews and have danced for some up and coming artists back in Florida. *Queue everyone asking me to dance now..
Q: If Brafton were a TV show, which character – from any sitcom, drama or reality show (of any time period) – would represent you?
That’s tough… Maybe Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm? Not necessarily that cynical but I’m a rather minimalistic person and tend to be pretty blunt.
